Swansea is Wales’ “City by the Sea” being perfectly situated on the edge of a five mile wide bay. Renowned as the birthplace of Wales’ greatest poet and playwright Dylan Thomas and home of the Dylan Thomas centre where his memory is kept very much alive.
The City has world class cultural facilities and is a lively and vibrant maritime city and regional shopping centre, Swansea is home to Wales biggest indoor market where you can sample traditional Welsh delicacies like laverbread and fresh cockles from Penclawdd. Locally caught fresh fish can also be bought.

Mumbles
Mumbles is undoubtedly one of the best seaside villages in the UK, with plenty of shops and restaurants and the entire Gower Peninsula on your doorstep.

Beaches & Coast
To the west of the city is the Gower Peninsula, Great Britain’s first area of Outstanding Natural Beauty whose west facing beaches are Wales’ premier surfing locations. We recommend the following beaches for their safety, good swimming, surfing and facilities:-
Langland, Caswell, Rotherslade, Llangennith Gower, Oxwich, Three Cliffs, Port Eynon

The Gower coastline is as good as it gets in the UK

From the family friendly promenade at Mumbles to the exhilarating mountain biking tracks of Afan Forest Park Swansea has become a haven for cyclists and bikers of all ages and abilities.

Golf Courses
Swansea Bay, Mumbles and Gower boasts an excellent selection of golf courses to suit all abilities and is the ideal location for your golfing.

One of the best courses in the area is Langland Bay Golf Club, set on the clifftop with stunning views of the bays.

Learn to Surf
Gower is famous for its first rate surfing, Llangennith is rated in the top 10 UK Surf Spots and also recommends that Gower is one of the best places to learn to surf.

Fishing


The Gower is well known for its sea fishing opportunities. It has many outstanding beaches from which you can fish including Langland, Port Eynon, Caswell, Oxwich and Llangennith.
Rock fishing popular locations include Mumbles Head, Tutt Head, then at the rocks below the coastal path running between Langland and Caswell, Brandy Cove, Pwll Du Head, Oxwich point, Slade, Port Eynon point. There are also other locations between Port Eynon and Worms Head, which is regarded as one of the best rough ground bass venues in Britain.
